The leader of the Faith of Unity, Owobusobozi Bisaka, has urged Ugandans to strictly follow all health guidelines issued by medical experts and the Ministry of Health in the fight against Ebola.
Speaking during celebrations marking his 97th birthday anniversary, Bisaka emphasized the importance of public cooperation in preventing the spread of the disease.
“I urge all people to follow the instructions given by health workers and the Ministry of Health so that together we can overcome Ebola,” he said.
The celebrations attracted thousands of followers from different parts of the country despite concerns surrounding the Ebola outbreak, which has affected public gatherings in some areas.
The event began with prayers for the nation to overcome Ebola, with Bisaka personally leading prayers for the country's health and well-being.
During the celebrations, followers of the Faith of Unity presented their spiritual leader with various gifts, including cash donations, livestock and other items, as a sign of appreciation for what they described as blessings, healing, guidance and protection received through the faith.
“We are grateful for the blessings, healing and guidance we have received, and these gifts are a sign of our appreciation,” some of the followers said.
Bisaka also expressed gratitude to Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for maintaining peace and stability in the country.
“I thank President Museveni for the peace Uganda continues to enjoy, and I encourage all elected leaders to work for the people and promote development,” he said.
The Faith of Unity leader further welcomed more than 190 new members who recently joined the religious movement and encouraged them to actively participate in its activities and programmes.
The Faith of Unity, which has followers across Uganda and beyond, continues to attract new adherents while promoting messages of unity, faith and community development.
